The wooden Dragon appears once every sixty years in the Chinese sexagenary cycle — the last occurrence was 1964, the next will be 2084. BEAC has issued collector silver in this format for several years, positioning Central African franc-denominated pieces into the international bullion and numismatic gift market well outside the zone's domestic economy. The coins are legal tender in the six CEMAC member states, though none will ever see a cash register in Yaoundé or Bangui.
