| Reverse description | The central field depicts a leaping ram in high relief, rendered in a naturalistic style and facing right with its head turned back, representing the zodiac sign Aries. Below the ram, a polychrome enamel cloud in blue and green tones provides an artistic celestial setting, with the Aries astrological symbol (♈) incuse to the lower right. The legend 'ARIES' appears in bold Latin capitals along the upper border, while the Cyrillic equivalent 'ОВЕН' is inscribed in capital letters along the lower border. |

| Additional information |
Part of Armenia's ongoing zodiac series issued through the late 2000s, this gold piece was struck by the Central Bank during a period when Armenia was absorbing the early shock of the 2008 global financial crisis — GDP contracted by over 14% in 2009, one of the sharpest downturns in the post-Soviet space. Collector-oriented gold issues were a reliable source of hard currency revenue for the central bank precisely when it needed it most.
