| 背面描述 | A dynamic pairs figure skating composition dominates the field, depicting a male and female skater in an elegant lift pose, both rendered in high sculptural relief against a deeply mirrored proof background. To the right, a square cartouche bearing the Olympic rings above a snowflake emblem is flanked by the commemorative dates 84-94, referencing the 1984 Sarajevo and 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games. The legend XVII ZIMSKE OLIMPIJSKE IGRE arcs along the upper border, while SARAJEVO and LILLEHAMMER appear at the lower left and lower right respectively, separated by floral ornaments. The denomination D 10000 is inscribed along the lower field. |

Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence in March 1992, and by the time this coin was struck the country was in the middle of a siege of Sarajevo that would become the longest siege of a capital city in modern warfare. The choice of pairs figure skating as the subject is a direct reference to the 1984 Winter Olympics held in Sarajevo — the single moment of international prestige the city had enjoyed before the war consumed it.
Issuing gold coinage in 1993 was as much a political act as a numismatic one. The National Bank was asserting institutional legitimacy for a state that was still fighting for its survival.
