P#63 is something of an anomaly in the post-Soviet Afghan series: dual printing attribution to both De La Rue in London and Goznak in Moscow. Afghanistan's currency infrastructure was severely disrupted by factional conflict in the early 1990s, and the government — such as it was under Najibullah and then the Mujahideen coalition — sourced printing from wherever contracts could be maintained. Whether the two printers produced different print runs or contributed separate production stages is not definitively established in the literature.
Hyperinflation had so eroded the Afghani by this point that 10,000 units represented a denomination unthinkable a decade earlier.
