Red letterpress on a light grey guilloche underprint, the note carries the issuer inscription 'Kreis Hofgeismar' at top in Gothic script, below which 'Gut für' introduces the denomination '10 Milliarden Mark' printed in large bold red Gothic lettering at centre. A serial number in red appears at upper right, the redemption clause 'Einzulösen bei der Kreissparkasse Hofgeismar' runs across the lower centre, and the issue date 'Hofgeismar, 11. Aug. 1923' together with the authorising body 'Der Kreisausschuß:' and manuscript signatures appear at the foot. The border consists of a red ornamental frame of repeating geometric motifs. |

The reverse carries a woodcut-style vignette of a panoramic townscape of Hofgeismar, labelled 'Hovengeismar in Hessen' at the top in roman lettering, reproduced after an early historical engraving. In the foreground an ox-drawn cart is rendered in bold black lines, with the town's church spires and rooftops extending across the middle ground against a lightly hatched sky, giving the note a distinctly archival and heraldic character. |
