| Reverse description | Central device depicts a coiled, writhing dragon without a surrounding circle — the so-called 'uncircled dragon' type — facing left with head turned toward the viewer, clutching a flaming pearl beneath its body. The dragon is rendered in high relief with finely detailed scales, whiskers, claws, and cloud-like appendages filling the field. The circumferential Latin legend KIANG NAN PROVINCE arcs across the upper half, while 7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS curves along the lower half, each separated by a decorative rosette or asterisk device at either side. The entire design is bounded by a beaded border at the rim, consistent with the milled production of the Kiangnan Mint. |
