Aanvullende informatie

Struck to commemorate the June 2000 inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang — the first meeting between the leaders of the two states since their division in 1945. Kim Jong Il and Kim Dae-jung signed the June 15th Joint Declaration, pledging cooperation and family reunions across the DMZ. The summit generated genuine international optimism; Kim Dae-jung was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize that October, in part for the initiative.

North Korean commemorative brass pieces of this type were produced almost exclusively for the export collector market rather than domestic circulation.
