| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the Venezuelan coat of arms, depicting a quartered shield with a sheaf of wheat, crossed weapons and a horse in full gallop at base, flanked by an olive branch to the left and a palm frond to the right, surmounted by an abundant cornucopia of fruits and flowers. Two ribbons below the shield bear the national mottoes INDEPENDENCIA and LIBERTAD, with dates 5 DE JULIO 1811 and 13 DE ABRIL 1864, and a lower ribbon inscribed DIOS Y FED.N. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS DE VENEZUELA arcs around the upper periphery, while the weight, date and fineness GRAM. 25 • 1874 • LEI 900 are inscribed along the lower periphery. The design is executed in high relief in the refined French academic style of the Paris Mint engravers. |
