| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast copper cash coin featuring a central square hole surrounded by a plain inner rim. The obverse legend reads 天嗣通寶 (Thiên Tư Thông Bảo) arranged in the traditional four-character format: top, bottom, right, left around the central perforation. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) with moderate relief against a flat field. The outer rim is raised and well-defined, consistent with Lý Dynasty casting conventions. |

The Thiên Tư Thông Bảo coinage belongs to the reign of Lý Cao Tông, who ascended the throne as a child and presided over a court increasingly destabilized by aristocratic factionalism and peasant uprisings. Private casting of cash coins was a persistent problem throughout the Lý dynasty, and the question of whether this issue originated from an authorized mint or a private foundry remains unresolved among specialists — Toda catalogued it with deliberate ambiguity.
