The Sử Thiên Thánh rebellion of 1391–1392 was one of several armed uprisings that destabilized the declining Trần dynasty in its final decades, as central authority collapsed under the pressure of repeated Cham incursions and internal court fractures. Rebel coinages from this period are exceptionally rare survivals — issued not for long-term circulation but to assert legitimacy and pay troops during campaigns measured in months, not years.

Toda 29 is among the more obscure entries in that catalog, with the seal script rendering distinguishing it from the more common clerical-script variants attributed to the same rebellion.
