| Obverse description | Four Chinese characters rendered in seal script (篆書) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square hole, reading clockwise from the top: 天 (Thiên), 寶 (Bảo), 聖 (Thánh), 元 (Nguyên), forming the legend 'Thiên Thánh Nguyên Bảo'. The characters are set within a plain, slightly raised rim, with no inner or outer decorative borders. The fields show a characteristic cast surface with natural patination consistent with a small-denomination cash coin of the late Trần-period rebellion coinage. |
