| 表面の説明 | Four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole, forming the legend Đại Định Thông Bảo (大定通寶). The character 大 (Đại) appears at the top, 通 (Thông) to the right, 寶 (Bảo) at the bottom, and 定 (Định) to the left. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) in low relief against a flat field. The coin exhibits a raised rim encircling the design, consistent with Vietnamese cast cash coinage of the fourteenth century. The surfaces show an even patina of dark green corrosion typical of aged copper alloy. |

Đại Định was the reign title of Dương Nhật Lễ, a ruler whose legitimacy was contested almost from the moment he took the throne — he is believed to have been of Cham descent, installed by court factions before being deposed and executed by the Trần restoration in 1370. Coinage attributed to his brief reign survives in very limited numbers, and the "private issue" designation reflects ongoing scholarly uncertainty about whether these pieces were officially sanctioned by the imperial mint or produced by peripheral authorities filling a circulation gap.
