Larinum, a Frentanian town in what is now Molise, produced a limited civic bronze coinage during the late third and early second centuries BC — a period when Rome was consolidating control over exactly these kinds of semi-autonomous Italic communities. The uncia, as the smallest fractional unit, saw the heaviest use and the fastest attrition.
