Obverse description Front-facing bust of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, Shah of Iran, depicted in military uniform adorned with epaulettes and a large decorative order or medallion on the chest. The Shah wears the distinctive tall Qajar astrakhan crown (kolah) surmounted by a jewelled aigrette. The portrait is set within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a wreath of olive branches extending around the entire border of the coin, enclosed by a milled outer rim. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a formal, regal style characteristic of late 19th-century Qajar royal portraiture.
