The inscription reads 'al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Fath Ali Shah Qajar,' proclaiming the dynastic title and name of the reigning monarch. The lettering is deeply struck in high relief, with decorative pellet ornaments interspersed throughout the field to embellish the calligraphic composition. The irregular, slightly uneven flan edge is characteristic of the hammered production technique employed at provincial Qajar mints. No figurative imagery appears; the design relies entirely on the aesthetic power of the Arabic-script inscription. |

The central inscription reads 'Zarb Balda Tayyiba Hamadan' (struck in the blessed city of Hamadan), with the AH date 1240 prominently placed in the lower portion of the field.
