The inscription, proclaiming the shah as 'Sultan son of Sultan, Fath Ali Shah Qajar', is executed in high relief with characteristic Qajar decorative exuberance. The legends fill the entire flan, leaving no plain field, with the coin's irregular hammered edge typical of early nineteenth-century Iranian minting practice. |

The inscription records the mint name Dar al-Ibadah Yazd and the AH date 1233, set against a finely granulated background with decorative vegetal ornaments. The bold, deeply struck calligraphy and the prominent beaded border are hallmarks of Qajar provincial gold coinage of this period. |
