| 裏面の説明 | A bold pattée or Greek cross occupies the central field, its arms formed by clustered pellets or short strokes giving a beaded or budded appearance consistent with Lombard tremissis iconography. The cross is enclosed within a circular border from which radiate short linear devices. The surrounding legend consists of a repeated nonsensical sequence of letters, a common feature of late and post-Roman Lombard coinage where literacy among die-cutters had declined, rendering the inscription purely decorative rather than meaningful. The execution is vigorous but irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial gold of the early eighth century. |
