Obverse description Central field occupied by the characteristic Lucchese monogram, a complex interlaced ligature combining the letters of LVCA in a bold, angular design typical of early medieval Lombard coinage. A horizontal letter R is positioned prominently above the monogram. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. No legend surrounds the device; the design fills the field within a plain or beaded border.

Reverse description A small, upright Latin cross occupies the central field, rendered in a simple, bold style characteristic of early medieval Italian gold coinage. The cross is surrounded by a circular band of repetitive, pseudo-epigraphic lettering forming a degenerate and meaningless legend, a common feature of late Lombard and transitional coinage of this period. The overall composition is enclosed within a beaded or pellet border, consistent with the hammered gold tremissis tradition of eighth-century Lucca.
