| Obverse description | King Levon I enthroned in full frontal view, seated upon a throne decorated with lion-head finials, his feet resting on an ornate footstool. The monarch is attired in royal mantle and crown, holding a patriarchal cross in his raised right hand and a fleur-de-lis scepter in his left. The figure is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of Armenian medieval coinage. The Armenian legend encircles the enthroned effigy within a beaded inner border. |
