The circumferential legend in Latin characters names Duke Wolfgang of Brunswick-Grubenhagen by his titles, with the abbreviated date 95 appearing at the conclusion of the inscription. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The entire field is occupied by a five-line funerary inscription in bold Roman capitals, recording the date of death of Duke Wolfgang as the 14th of March in the year MDXCV, and attesting that he lived 63 years, 11 months, and 17 days. Below the inscription appears the mintmaster's mark or symbol, flanked by small floral ornaments, all within a beaded inner border and plain outer rim. |
