Obverse description Conjoined busts of King Wilhelm I and Queen Augusta of Prussia facing right, both crowned and draped in ermine-trimmed coronation robes, rendered in high relief with finely engraved detail. The king appears in the foreground wearing a jewelled royal crown, his beard and military collar clearly delineated; the queen is depicted slightly behind and to the right, also crowned and adorned with a pearl necklace. The circumferential legend reads WILHELM KOENIG AUGUSTA KOENIGIN V. PREUSSEN, separated by a cross pattee above the crowns, all contained within a beaded border. The mint mark A appears at the base of the truncation. The composition reflects the neoclassical portrait style favoured by the Berlin Mint under engraver Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich.
