Reverse description The reverse features a devotional composition depicting the enthroned Madonna and Child on clouds in the upper left, with the Virgin wearing a radiate crown and the Christ Child holding an orb, while Ferdinand Maria kneels in prayer at the right, depicted in half-length with his hands clasped in supplication before her. The Bavarian coat of arms, an ornate shield with the lozengy field of Bavaria surmounted by an electoral bonnet and flanked by elaborate scroll mantling, occupies the central lower field. The date 16-57 is split across the lower field on either side of the escutcheon. The legend O. MARIA. ORA. PRO. ME. curves around the upper portion of the coin within a beaded border, invoking the Virgin's intercession.
