| Aanvullende informatie |
Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor from 1576 to 1612, governed from Prague rather than Vienna and became increasingly consumed by alchemy, astrology, and an obsessive art collection — to the point that his Habsburg relatives convened a family council in 1606, the very year of this strike, to assess whether he was fit to rule. The Hall mint in Tyrol operated under direct imperial authority and was among the most technically sophisticated facilities in Europe, drawing on Alpine silver supplies that had made the Thal valley the namesake of the denomination itself.
The 1606 date places this coin squarely in the crisis year preceding Rudolf's forced cession of Austria, Hungary, and Moravia to his brother Matthias.
