| Obverse description | Armored bust of Prince Mihály Apafi I facing right, wearing elaborately decorated plate armor with a plumed helmet visible above, and a sword at his side. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque style typical of Transylvanian thaler coinage of the mid-17th century. The portrait is surrounded by a beaded inner border, with the Latin legend divided by decorative leaf stops running around the periphery. The prince's armor is richly chased with ornamental detail, reflecting the artistic conventions of the Sibiu mint. |
