Beschrijving voorzijde Armored and draped bust of Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria, facing right, wearing a long flowing allonge wig rendered in high relief with elaborate curling locks cascading over the shoulders. The elector is depicted in baroque court fashion with ornate armor partially visible at the lower left, beneath which an electoral crown is placed. The circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading MAX. EMANVEL. D. G. V. B & P. S. D. C. P. R. S. R. I. A. D & E. L. L., abbreviated titles denoting his full electoral and imperial dignities. The portrait is executed in the grand Baroque manner characteristic of late 17th-century German coinage, with deeply incised detail and a wide milled border.

Beschrijving keerzijde A enthroned allegorical female figure, personifying the Virgin Mary or Divine Providence, seated facing and holding a scepter in her right hand, with a putto or cherub at her side supporting the Bavarian arms — a quartered oval shield featuring the distinctive lozengy pattern of Bavaria and the Palatinate arms — surmounted by an electoral bonnet and surrounded by a radiant glory emitting stylized rays. The composition is executed in dense Baroque relief with elaborate drapery and decorative scrollwork framing the central armorial. The circular Latin legend CLYPEVS OMNIBVS IN TE SPERANTIBVS, meaning 'A shield to all who trust in Thee,' with the date 1694, reads around the periphery, separated by a star.
