The Salzburg countermark, consisting of the letters and numerals '16S81', has been applied to the coin in 1681 under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, authenticating it for continued circulation within Salzburg territories. The countermark is clearly struck within the field, partially interrupting the original reverse design. |
