The circumferential Latin legend, reading clockwise from 12 o'clock, records this sacred event. The countermark '16S81' applied by the Salzburg mint in 1681 under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg is visible in the field, validating the coin for continued circulation. The reverse composition is rendered in high-relief style consistent with Salzburg baroque medallic art. |
