Obverse description A detailed architectural view of the Cathedral of Salzburg occupies the central field, flanked by standing figures of St. Rupert on the left and St. Virgilius on the right. The date is divided by the cathedral facade. Below the central design, the arms of Salzburg are displayed, separating the lower portion of the circumferential legend. The Latin legend, reading clockwise from approximately 7 o'clock, records the consecration of the metropolitan church by Archbishop Paris Lodron in 1628.

Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a procession of bishops is depicted carrying a reliquary box, commemorating the translation of the relics of St. Rupert and St. Virgilius on 24 September 1628. The circumferential Latin legend, reading clockwise from 12 o'clock, records this sacred event. The countermark '16S81' applied by the Salzburg mint in 1681 under Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg is visible in the field, validating the coin for continued circulation. The reverse composition is rendered in high-relief style consistent with Salzburg baroque medallic art.
