These years bracket the opening phase of what became a catastrophic Ottoman offensive: the 1663 campaign under Grand Vizier Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Pasha swept through Royal Hungary, taking the fortress of Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky) in September after a five-week siege. Emergency war financing drove silver coinage with unusual urgency from the Kremnitz mint, and the 1662–1663 issues funded both garrison pay and the diplomatic scramble to assemble a Christian relief force.
The multiple Herinek references reflect documented die variations between the two years rather than a cataloging anomaly.
