Julius Sigismund ruled Württemberg-Oels for just three years, from 1684 until his death in 1687, making his taler issues among the briefest production runs of any Silesian Württemberg line. The duchy itself was a minor Protestant enclave within Habsburg-dominated Silesia, its coinage rights a jealously maintained privilege even as the line's political influence steadily contracted through the late seventeenth century.
Davenport's attribution under EC II reflects the broader Silesian taler tradition rather than any imperial mint connection — these were struck locally, likely at Oels itself.
