背面描述 The elaborately quartered coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, surmounted by a ducal crown and flanked by two spread-winged griffins serving as supporters, all rendered in high-relief Baroque style. A flowing ribbon banner above the shield bears the motto legend PROVIDE ET CONSTANTIER, and a decorative foliate scroll cartouche below contains the divided date 17-08. The shield incorporates the multiple heraldic quarterings of the duchy, including the bull's head of Mecklenburg, the eagle of Schwerin, and other territorial charges.

附加信息

Frederick William ruled Mecklenburg-Schwerin for less than two years before dying in 1713 at age seventeen, making his coinage among the shortest-reign issues of the German thalers. The 1707–1708 dating on this piece reflects the early years of his minority rule, when regency governance complicated ducal administration. Mecklenburg remained entangled in the Great Northern War's peripheral pressures during this period, with Swedish and Danish forces operating across the broader Baltic region.

The Dav GT II:2441 reference places this squarely in Davenport's German Talers grouping for minor states — a category where surviving populations are frequently small and auction appearances infrequent.
