Reverse description The elaborately detailed quartered arms of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha displayed on a large shield, surmounted by a ducal crown with ermine-lined mantle draped and tied to either side, the folds rendered with considerable artistic precision. The shield is supported by decorative strapwork and rests above a small ornamental device at its base. The circular legend EIN THALER XIV EINE F.M. flanks the upper portion of the design, and the date 1852 appears in the exergue below the shield. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border.
