Reverse description Elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Cologne, comprising the heraldic cross of Cologne and the lion of the counts of Schaumburg, set within an ornate Renaissance cartouche of flowing acanthus scrollwork. Above the shield, two crossed processional staves surmount a small escutcheon topped by an electoral bonnet. The entire composition is executed in a rich high-relief Renaissance style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century German thaler coinage. A circular Latin legend reading MONETA NOV ARGEN TVICI runs around the periphery within a beaded border.
