Below the Madonna, an ornately decorated heraldic shield bearing the Hamburg nettleleaf (Nesselblatt) device is prominently displayed. The divided Latin legend, an excerpt from the Annunciation (Luke 1:38), runs along the outer border in two parts separated by the central motif. |
