| Obverse description | Papal coat of arms of Innocent XI (House of Odescalchi) displayed centrally within an ornate oval cartouche, featuring an eagle in chief above a lion passant and three covered cups in fess on horizontal bands. The shield is surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) with two crossed keys of Saint Peter tied with a cord, all rendered in high relief. An elaborate baroque mantle with foliate scrollwork frames the shield on either side. The circular legend around the periphery reads INNOCEN·XI· PONT·M·A·IX·, interrupted by ornamental stops, with a finely milled border encircling the entire field. |

| Reverse description | A bold five-line Latin inscription — MELIVS / EST DARE / QVAM / ACCIPERE / 1685 — set within a finely engraved baroque cartouche formed by symmetrical scrollwork volutes terminating in foliate motifs at the top and bottom. The text, drawn from the Acts of the Apostles (20:35), is rendered in evenly spaced serif capital letters. The date 1685 appears beneath the main legend within the lower portion of the cartouche. The entire design is contained within a plain field bounded by a finely milled outer border. |
