| Opis rewersu | Frontal enthroned figure of Saint Ambrose, patron of Milan, depicted in full episcopal vestments including mitre and cope, nimbed, holding a whip or scourge in his raised right hand and a crozier in his left. A small devotional object appears at his feet. The saint is rendered in high relief with considerable sculptural detail in the drapery folds, consistent with the refined Milanese die-engraving of the Sforza period. The surrounding Latin legend, reading SANCTUS AMBROSIUS and divided across the field, encircles the composition within a beaded border. |
