Sikandar Shah I's reign over the Delhi Sultanate lasted less than a month in 1394, making any coinage attributed to him among the rarest products of the entire Tughluq period. The political chaos surrounding his accession — he was placed on the throne by the powerful minister Malik Sarwar only to be deposed almost immediately — left almost no administrative infrastructure functioning long enough to conduct a normal mint operation. Whether this piece dates to 1393 or spans the disputed transition is a question the KM attribution alone cannot settle.
