Rukn al-Din Barbak Shah ruled Bengal from 1459 to 1474 and is notable in part for his large-scale recruitment of Abyssinian slaves into administrative and military roles — a policy that would eventually destabilize the sultanate after his death, as those same officers seized power in the 1480s. The Dar al-Darb mint designation itself is worth noting: it translates roughly as "house of striking," used by certain Bengal sultans as a formal mint epithet rather than a place name, complicating geographic attribution for this issue.
