Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Shah ruled Bengal twice — his first reign cut short when his half-brother Shams ud-Din Ahmad Shah seized power, before Jalal ud-Din retook the throne in 1433. The tankas attributed to the 1414–1431 regal period were struck at Firuzabad, the mint city established on the Ganges that served as Bengal's primary silver coinage center throughout the Ilyas Shahi dynasty's later phase.
