| Descrizione del rovescio | Epigraphic field entirely in Arabic script, arranged in three horizontal lines of raised legend across the hammered billon flan. The inscription reads 'al-khalifat amir al-mu'minin khulidat khilafatuhu' (The Caliph, Commander of the Faithful, may his caliphate endure), asserting the sultan's claim to Abbasid caliphal legitimacy. The AH regnal year, here exemplified by 776 (AH 776 = 1374–75 CE), appears in Eastern Arabic numerals in the lower portion of the field. The script style is consistent with the bold Naskh calligraphy employed throughout the Tughluq monetary series. |
