Beschrijving voorzijde Royal equestrian effigy depicted in profile facing right, the king mounted on horseback and holding a fleur-de-lis sceptre. The figure is rendered in a bold, stylized medieval Armenian artistic tradition typical of Cilician coinage. The design is surrounded by a beaded border enclosing the Armenian legend in the field. The overall composition reflects the influence of Western European heraldic conventions on Armenian royal iconography.

Aanvullende informatie

Constantine IV's reign lasted barely two years before he was deposed and executed in 1344, making this among the shortest-lived issues of the Cilician Armenian series. By this point the kingdom itself was in terminal decline — squeezed between the Mamluk Sultanate to the south and the slow collapse of Crusader support from the west — and coin production reflected that instability, with irregular flans and inconsistent striking pressure common across surviving examples.
