Reverse description Plain central field bearing six large Chinese characters arranged in two rows of three, reading 省足壹 / 平紋兩 (Provincial Scale Fine Silver / 1 Tael), struck in bold relief. The inscription denotes the denomination and the purity standard of the bullion issue. As on the obverse, the legend is contained within a plain raised inner circle, which is in turn encircled by a continuous raised beaded border. The overall design is strictly utilitarian, consistent with the character of a bullion coinage intended for trade and commerce.
