Piedforts from the Dutch provincial mints were almost never intended for circulation — they were presentation strikes, produced in limited numbers for officials, foreign dignitaries, or as mint records. Zeeland's output was modest even by Dutch provincial standards, and a billon piedfort from 1727 occupies an extremely narrow slice of that production. The triple-weight specification places this beyond the more common double-weight piedfort format, making it a deliberate rarity even within an already uncommon category.
