Reverse description A bold long cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing a grouping of pellets arranged in a triangular pattern, a design derived from the English sterling tradition. An inner beaded circle frames the cross design, while the surrounding Latin legend STERLINGVS is distributed around the periphery. The overall composition reflects the influence of English and Low Countries sterling coinage widely circulated in the Rhineland during the fourteenth century.
