| Beschrijving voorzijde | Full-length armored effigy of King Christian IV facing front, clad in elaborately engraved plate armor with a plumed helmet, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his outstretched left hand. The king stands in a commanding pose against a plain field, with the date 1609 divided to either side of his figure in the lower portion. The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin, reads CHRISTIANUS IIII D:G: DANI NOR:VAN:GOT: REX, identifying him as King of Denmark, Norway, the Vandals, and the Goths. The design is executed in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Scandinavian coinage. |
