The composition fills the central field with powerful sculptural relief, the dragon shown coiled and vanquished below the rearing horse. The bordure carries the motto of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, HONI·SOIT·QUI·MAL·Y·PENSE, in raised letters, with the engraver's initials BP (for Benedetto Pistrucci) visible in the lower field. |
