Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Carl of Saxony facing right, depicted with curled hair tied at the nape, within a beaded or plain inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin reads D · G · CAROL · PR · REG · POLON · & · SAX, identifying the sitter as Carl, Prince of the Kingdom of Poland and Saxony, by the Grace of God. The portrait is rendered in a modest relief consistent with small copper coinage of the mid-eighteenth century.
