| Description de l’avers | Frontal or near-frontal effigy of the Doge Nicolò Marcello in ducal robes, holding a sceptre or staff, rendered in the schematic style typical of late medieval Venetian hammered coinage. The figure is presented in a formal, hieratic manner consistent with the iconographic conventions of the Venetian dogal soldino series. The surrounding Latin legend reads NI • MARCELLVS • DVX •, identifying the reigning Doge. The flan is irregular and slightly worn, as is characteristic of hammered small silver denominations of this period.
