| Obverse description | The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting the traditional shield quartered with a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia, flanked by laurel and palm branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination UN SOL appears prominently in the lower field. The date 2023, the weight 33,625g, and the fineness PLATA 0,925 are inscribed in the lower field alongside the Lima mint mark (L/A monogram). The coin is struck in proof finish with deeply mirrored fields contrasting with frosted relief elements. |

| Additional information |
The Escuela de Oficiales de la Fuerza Aérea del Perú, established in Las Palmas in 1941, trained the generation of pilots who flew during the 1981 Penedonejo border skirmishes with Ecuador and the more sustained 1995 Cenepa War — a conflict in which Peruvian air assets played a decisive and, for Lima, largely favorable role. Commemorative one sol silver issues from the Banco Central de Reserva follow a long-running series honoring Peruvian military institutions, each struck to the same 37mm specification.
KM#440 is a recent addition to that series. Mintage figures for these issues are typically modest.
