Obverse description The obverse is printed in black with a pink underprint and carries the bank title EL BANCO NACIONAL DEL PERÚ across the top in bold letterpress. A central vignette presents a bust portrait of an indigenous Peruvian woman in traditional attire, flanked on the left by an allegorical female figure with a mirror and on the right by a second allegorical figure holding a trident, both rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The numeral 1 appears in dark guilloche cartouches at each corner, with the denomination text and payment promise inscribed in two columns across the centre, dated Lima, 10 de Febrero de 1877, and bearing two manuscript signatures with printed titles below.
